Project Information

In redeveloping the Whitworths Factory site, Persimmon Homes appointed Woods Hardwick to produce a Transportation Assessment and one of the first residential Travel Plans in Northamptonshire. The scheme is for the provision of some 250 residences and acknowledging Northamptonshire’s Transport Strategy for Growth, a suite of measures were put forward in the Travel Plan to encourage the 20% modal shift target. Some of the measures incorporate early in the design of the scheme which include “Public Transport - proofing” the site in order to ensure that buses will in the future be able to enter the site. An enhanced bus service 45 (via a revenue support scheme with Stagecoach) and providing a bicycle for every household also formed part of the Travel Plan package. The management of the Travel Plan will be NCC’s responsibility, thus maximising any possible synergies with other developments in the area.
