Woods Hardwick Infrastructurre were appointed by Routeco Ltd to prepare Transportation Appraisal in support of their planning application to construct three new buildings on Routeco Business Park Knowlhill, Milton Keynes along with the provision of associated cycle shelters, car parking, servicing and landscaping. A Travel Plan, supportive of initiatives to enhance alternatives to making motorised journeys resulting in reduction of reliance on car based trips to and from the site, was also prepared. The location of the site is ideally suited for promoting sustainable modes of transport and achieving long-term modal shift away from the motor car. The site is located within Milton Keynes Accessibility Zone 3 in a dedicated Business Park situated in Knowlhill, an area to the south west of Central Milton Keynes. The Transportation Appraisal specifically considers the development proposals in light of the Transport User Hierarchy as set out in Milton Keynes Local Plan 2001-2011 (Adopted December 2005) and concludes that the proposals are consistent with a sustainable transport approach. An assessment of the proposed development in terms of traffic capacity and impact also confirms its sustainability.
